Services
How would you describe what you do?
HL:
As graphic designers, we act as messengers or translators for our clients. We present various pieces of information in a visual manner, prompting a physical or an emotional response.

What does that normally involve?
HL:
It’s about finding the connections between certain things and presenting it to people in a compelling and meaningful way. It’s about defining and crafting a message and ensuring that it’s delivered in the most effective and appropriate means possible.

What are the first steps in a design project?
HL:
More often than not, a client will come to us with a specific end product in mind – say a printed item or an online element. We’ll meet with the client and start a diagnostic process.

How do you mean?
HL:
We’d begin by asking questions to try and define what the problem is prior to performing research and trials before presenting ideas for a solution.

What type of questions would you ask?
HL:
We would want to know all the intracacies of your business… your company history, what your customers are looking for and why? What messages or values you want to convey against those of your competition.
Sounds quite holistic!
HL:
We always try to involve the client as much as possible throughout the project so that they walk with us through the creative process. This helps to avoid any confusion about to how we arrived at the final result and why it is relevant.

Do most of your clients work in Marketing?
HL:
Many of our clients tend to be business owners, but we regularly work with Marketing Directors.

Is the process any different between the two?
HL:
Not really, because we try to approach each project with a fresh eye. For us, each piece of work is unique in that it focuses on certain factors that are individual and specific to that project or client. I’m very against cultivating a ‘house-style’ as it means we’re applying a set of predesigned styles and elements to a project.

How different would you say you were if compared to other design agencies?
HL:
Honesty Design is about getting straight to the truth and making things work. No pretentiousness, no style over content, no form over function. If it’s not right, it’s wrong. We’re very sincere and direct with our approach and don’t seek to create Art for the sake of it – rather creative solutions for business problems.
On average, how much would you charge for a standard project – say a website?
HL:
Every project is different. We’ve worked on both large and small projects with varying complexities. We always charge by the hour and each project will have certain requirements that-

I ask because there is a general consensus that commissioning Graphic Design or Web Design can be expensive.
HL:
There are many design companies out there who are cheaper than us – equal to the number of companies who are more expensive than us.

I would point out that quality of design will always be an indicator of credibility. It’s a statement of the standards you expect or aspire towards. Good design, as a service, generally comes at a cost since it requires time, resources, knowledge, experience and skill.

Who would be your ideal client?
HL:
We’ve worked for so many different businesses and individuals it’d be hard to identify a favourite. I would say that we particularly enjoy working for a client who is as passionate and excited about the final design as we are when producing it.
